Identify plants from a photo
Point your phone at a houseplant, flower, tree or weed. PlantClinic tells you what it is, how healthy it looks and how to look after it.

How it works
- Snap. Take a clear photo of the leaves or the flower, or pick one from your camera roll.
- Get the name. You see the common name, the Latin name, other names it goes by and a match score.
- Look after it. Read its care plan, health check and toxicity, then save it to My Plants to keep track of watering.
What you see after a scan
- Name: common and Latin name, plus the other names the plant is sold under.
- Match score and look-alikes: the closest other species, so you can compare them yourself.
- Health check: a score from 0 to 100 and any problem the photo shows.
- Care: water, light, soil and temperature for that plant.
- Toxicity: whether it's known to be toxic to people, cats and dogs.
- Background: where it grows naturally, its plant family and how big it gets.
Tips for a better match
- Fill the frame with one plant.
- Shoot in daylight, without flash.
- Show the leaves, and the flowers or fruit if it has them.
- If the match score is low, take a second photo from another angle.
What it can identify
Houseplants and succulents, garden flowers, shrubs and trees, weeds and wildflowers, and common herbs and vegetables. Young seedlings, blurry photos and rare garden varieties are the hardest. Results come from AI and can be wrong. Treat them as general information, not professional advice, and never eat, forage or use a plant as medicine based on an app.

Questions
How do I identify a plant from a picture?
Open PlantClinic, tap the camera button and take a photo of the leaves or the flower, or upload one from your camera roll. You get the plant's name, a match score and its closest look-alikes.
Is PlantClinic free?
7 days free, then $34.99 a year (about $2.92 a month). Or start with your first month for $0.99, then $34.99 a year. Cancel anytime in your account; cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
How accurate is the plant identification?
Each result shows a match score and the closest look-alikes, so you can see how sure the app is. AI can be wrong, especially with seedlings, blurry photos or rare varieties, so compare the look-alikes, and never eat a plant based on an app.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. PlantClinic runs in your phone's browser (Safari or Chrome) and on a computer, with nothing to install.
Can it tell me if a plant is poisonous to my cat or dog?
Every result lists toxicity for people and for pets. If a child or pet may have eaten a plant, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 (a consultation fee may apply), or your vet or doctor, right away.
